Hello, I had a similar problem less than a week before you posted your message.
Refer to viewtopic.php?f=9&t=788&p=3393#p3393 for a workaround using check_fping instead of check_ping.

Ok, so I managed to find a solution... use check_fping (instead of check_ping) so that I could set the packet size using the '-b' option. Here's what I ended up doing: Created a new 'MiscCommand' called 'check-host-alive-fping' and set the command line to be '$USER1$/check_fping -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -b ...
