problems running nems commands

Post by cwmcd »

i seem to be running into an issue when going through the install process.

everything is great up until i need to do a <sudo nems-mailtest <email>> or <sudo nems-upgrade> etc.

i just get a "command not found" error.

any suggestions?

thanks in advance.

Is that what you're typing into the terminal verbatim?

The correct commands would be:

sudo nems-mailtest [email protected]

Where [email protected] is the recipient.

And to upgrade NEMS, it's:

sudo nems-upgrade

If you are typing the commands correctly, try running this command first: sudo nems-update

What version of NEMS are you running (you'll see this on the screen when you first connect to SSH)?

Good luck. Let me know if that helps.

Can you kindly paste me the entire terminal output, including what you type, and the error in its entirety? I also would like to know the output of the command: hostname

Thanks,
Robbie

Thanks.

Can you type: sudo reboot
And then try the same commands?

Also, please confirm the NEMS server has Internet connectivity, yes? Eg., ping google.com

RE: problems running nems commands

How strange. I am starting to wonder if you got a bad/corrupted image ... but strange it'd react this way even if that was the case.

Try running the update script directly as follows:

Code: Select all

sudo /home/pi/nems-scripts/update.sh
Work?

Very curious as to why your deployment is having this issue... a bad image, or something. If I can SSH in, please email me. I wouldn't mind having a look to see if I can spot why this is happening to you (definitely not normal)!

Do you still have your img download? Can you check the MD5 checksum to see if it matches what it should be?

Thanks,
Robbie

md5 checks out ok

i've wiped and reburned it a few times before contacting you and always the same results.

i'm on windows and using etcher, but i'm pretty sure that's not the issue since the md5 checks out ok.

i'll pm you with connection info
