Monitoring unusual devices

Post by Halvar »

Platform:RPi 3b
NEMS Linux version: 1.5.1
NEMS Build number: where can I find this ?

Dear community,
I set up NEMS at home to gain some knowledge. I expected this to be an easy start, but...

I tried to monitor all devices in the network. With usual PCs, Macs and even printers I had no issues to get notified if they are down.
But I failed with "easy" tasks, like monitoring smartphones or my sons PlayStation in my network.

How can I setup NEMS to get informations, like:
- when does a specific iPhone (fixed IP) connect to my WiFi ?
- how can I get a traffic graph for this ?
- when did it disconnect ?

- when did my son start gaming with his (fixed IP) PS4 ?
- how long ? Traffic graph ?
- when did he stop ?

I mean, NEMS is meant for servers and PCs, but I guess it needs to monitor a lot of weird server configurations and should have a number of sensors/services to get hands on data, or am I wrong ?
