Do I have more than one NEMS running... No, I don't.

Networking setup.
I have reserved the RPi's MAC address in my router's DHCP so that it always gets the same IP address.
I do this for all my IMPORTANT hosts and it is sort of necessary with Nagios as Nagios pings their IP address.
My router allows me to add the host name to the reservation in the DHCP so, in NEMS's case I call it "nems" (in lower case) and reserve the IP address for the Pi's MAC address.
I follow this process for all hosts.

How do I access NEMS?
I have a shortcut on my desktop and the shortcut is "http://nems/"

Experiments.
I tried changing the shortcut to "nems.local" and it found the nems server but when I clicked on the RPi-Monitor, it could not find the Rpi-Monitor.
This was what I got....
"This site can’t be reached
nems.local refused to connect."

Change it back to "nems" and do the same and it works.

Changing it to the actual IP address (http://10.0.0.32) seems to much the same as using "http://nems/"

K so when you have the problem recur try switching to the IP to see if that's the issue. I think it has to do with name resolution from the NEMS server itself... there's no reason why http://10.0.0.32:8888 wouldn't reply. So give that a try.

Interesting thing just happened...

I was connected to NEMS using "http://nems/
I clicked on Rpi_Monitor and up came the RPiMonitor form with no data.  It had done this before too..
I thought, Ok Robbie said to change it to "http://10.0.0.32:8888" sooooo in the time it took me to think about this, click on the URL line and start typing "10.0.... " the form filled with data.

Weird??

Heh Heh... Yes I did think that too but then there are times when it just does not respond and the browser times out so there is something intermittently going wrong but blowed if I know what it is.
It's not something important as I only refer to this infrequently when I want to check something on the Pi hardware or something.
As I said earlier, I was just commenting on Dave's input for completeness.
I think there are more important things for you to focus on really.

I am adding this just for information gathering...

I timed the RPi Monitor this morning.

It did respond eventually.

Chrome timed out and I got the windows which asked me if I wanted to wait or exit (about 30 secs) with 2 items NEMS and RPI Mon (the 2 tabs) I selected wait.

Wait about 5 secs

I then click on the URL and it comes up.

Weird....

Hi ron,
I've worked through some of the "super urgent" fixes as of late, so now circling back to this. Can we discuss how things are looking?

Morning Robbie,
Hope you had a good weekend.
Sure we can discuss this business of how RPi-Monitor is playing games with me.  & possibly others.
It is just plain weird and somewhat intermittent.

Like just now I have NEMS up in the same browser as I am using for this forum but a different tab in Chrome.
I click on <System><RPi-Monitor>  and it works first go withing the blink of an eye.
Next I drop out the RPi-Monitor Tab and then NEMS tab on Chrome but leave the Forum Tab open.
I then launch a new Chrome window with NEMS
I then  click on <System><RPi-Monitor> then it just sits there spinning its wheels until browser times out.
However if during this time I decide to click on the URL line it seems to react and serve up the monitor BUT NOT ALWAYS. Like I said weird.
It is almost like it needs a <CR> or something :-)

I have tried this in Chrome, Firefox, Edge but it seems to be the same.

I have cleared caches & cookies...

Did Dave ever send his "backup.nems"?

Cheers

Hey Ron,
Yeah - a nice weekend, though it was a fair bit of head scratching :)

Question: How are you accessing NEMS? nems.local, or IP address?

can you run a ping to your NEMS server and tel me if you are getting any dropped packets?

As far as Dave's backup goes - yeah... though I got side-tracked with some major issues with NConf that I had to focus on first, so at this point I'm kinda approaching this fresh.

Thanks!
