What errors do you get when you run: sudo nems-update

I expect you will get errors based on what you're telling me, so hopefully they'll shed some light on things (in particular I am curious if you're having certificate-related issues).

When I run:
sudo nems-update, I get a series of updating... nems-migrator ...

finally....1 file changed, 6 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-)
Done.
Running updates and fixes...Internet is offline. NEMS needs Internet connectivity.

Okay; that insertion you just received is a patch I just issued that lets you initialize even if NEMS thinks you are offline. So try sudo nems-init again and let me know if that fixed it for you.

It's odd that you were able to receive the patch (which came from Github) even though your system reports as offline (which means it can't reach Github). Something to do with the positioning of the moon, I reckon. :)

Try pinging github.com again after you initialize. Part of the initialization is that your private certificates get generated, so if it suddenly works, we'll know that was the cause. If not, I would like to know more about your setup to see if I can help get to the bottom of it.

i managed to get the NeMs initialized; created a new user and password and basic configuration.

But it still gave me “Offline” on the internet status after reboot.

Seems like have to resolve the Internet connectivity ...
but thanks, I think at least I can proceed further now.

Yeah, I figured if I at least made it so you can initialize then you can operate.

I'm very curious why it thinks it's offline though. Would you be willing to give me SSH access at some point to have a poke around and see if I can find [and fix] the issue?
